Vice President of Design

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a talented design team in a fast-growing restaurant company. The Vice President of Design will play a critical role in shaping the brand experience through the development and implementation of restaurant design standards. You will be responsible for managing a team of internal designers and external resources to ensure that restaurant designs are operationally efficient, maintain a strong brand image, and are delivered within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of design professionals responsible for restaurant and restaurant support center design standards and drawings.
  • Develop and execute a strategic design roadmap aligned with company priorities.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks for both company-owned and franchised restaurant design projects.
  • Oversee external design resources to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate professional development plans for team members.
  • Implement a departmental training program to maintain expertise on design trends, technology, and best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and design standards.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding design initiatives.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of new restaurant design prototypes.
  • Manage the process for providing schematic site plans.
  • Collaborate with property development and construction teams to ensure design standards are upheld, including developing and managing project approval processes.
  • Review construction documents for both company-owned and franchised locations.
  • Conduct design audits on completed restaurants and maintain a design component database.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in restaurant design, with a proven track record of leading and mentoring a design team.
  • Expertise in AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience with change management systems and processes is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple, evolving priorities.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and highly energetic with strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and operate with integrity and trustworthiness.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and work from the Plano, TX office.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
