About the Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned and results-oriented Head of Facilities to lead and oversee all aspects of our facilities management program. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive facilities strategy, ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of all company facilities, and maximizing the lifespan of our assets. You will lead a team of facilities professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic facilities management plan, encompassing preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, capital improvement projects, and budget management.
  • Oversee all aspects of facilities maintenance, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, life safety systems, and grounds maintenance.
  • Lead a team of facilities professionals, providing coaching, mentorship, and ensuring their professional development.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with service providers, ensuring high-quality service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage and track work orders and service requests, ensuring timely completion and adherence to established standards.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to identify potential maintenance needs and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Implement and oversee a preventative maintenance program to minimize reactive repairs and extend the lifespan of equipment and assets.
  • Partner with other departments (e.g., Finance, Operations) to ensure facilities needs are aligned with company goals and budget constraints.
  • Develop and manage the annual facilities budget, optimizing resource allocation and cost control.
  • Analyze maintenance data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in efficiency, service quality, and cost savings.
  • Oversee capital improvement projects, including project planning, contractor selection, budget management, and project execution.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in facilities management.
  • Ensure all facilities operations comply with applicable safety regulations and building codes.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in facilities management, preferably within a commercial or retail environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing a comprehensive facilities management program.
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance principles and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and security systems.
  • Experience in managing and overseeing a team of facilities professionals.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Budget management and financial acumen.
  • Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
